Central Self Drives Founder Stan Lewis left the RAF in the 1960′s at a time of high unemployment nationwide. He used his savings to purchase Chester Road Service Station which traded successfully as a petrol station and vehicle repair garage. Utilising his entrepreneurial skills Stan saw a niche in the market whereby he could gain extra income from existing customers by providing hire vehicles whilst theirs were being repaired or serviced.

Due to its ongoing success in 1968 the company moved to Winick Street and began trading as Central Self Drive where we still operate from today!

Throughoutthe next two decades the company was driven forward by the Lewis family and as the motor trade moved forward the fleet was replenished accordingly.

The new millennium. Central is now under the stewardship of Stan’s Grandson, David but still run with the same morals and principles that Stan set all those years ago. The full fleet has been renewed from small cars to 7.5 ton trucks. We provide a professional service but with that intimate touch so that we can cater for all your vehicle requirements be it big or small. Heres to the next 30 years……
